Newbie rolling resto.
Re: Newbie rolling resto.
Managed to get a quick pic of the teach yourself to weld class project today.
2 holes patched and nearly finished, as a self taught welder my teacher was a thickie.
Couple more unnatural holes in the floor to deal with then it's up on the ramp on Friday for rub down and paint.

Re: Newbie rolling resto.
Few hours on a ramp today, never enough time. But this bit looks loads better. Had the front floor pan ready for paint, just waiting on the seam sealer to set.

Re: Newbie rolling resto.
So had her first MOT and thought it would fail on emissions but steamed to be fine.
Of the 8 welds I did 7 passed judgement so happy with that.
Inspectors found 1 New hole, bugger and a edge I missed on my weld whoops, and a hole I thought was ok.
Though the front arches need fixing and the driver's strut top is badly welded, so these things I need to sort asap.
SAFETY FAIL DO NOT DRIVE. Bugger.

Re: Newbie rolling resto.
And after.
Waiting for paint to be dry enough to put arch liner back in, once that's done I move to the next one on the list.

Re: Newbie rolling resto.
So after much thought I think I have found a name for the calibra. Meet the bucket. She will be well patched and back on the road tomorrow.

Well after the best part of a weeks work I have a legal calibra. Pictures to follow and now I am moving onto nice bits and fitting my new rear bench seats.

Re: Newbie rolling resto.
So a bit of work done today, headliner off and out. Was a bit of a fiddle and now has a crack in it but I hope I can repair it.
People like to use sealant to bodge s**t. The sunroof motor was extremely loose found some of the bolts and refitted hopefully the sunroof will work now.
