No lights, no turning? Or turning and not firing?

Can you smell unburnt fuel?

Pop the spark out of cylinder 1 and touch it to the engine block while still attached to the lead (you may want to wear rubber gloves to do this) and look for a spark.

If you can't smell petrol then the fuelling is the problem... Quick thing I've sometimes found - undo the fuel cap and try again... sometimes a vacuum forms in the fuel tank.

After that you're looking at AA call out time....

Hello..
IF the ecu light does not come on, then that is the fuel pump relay
It is located usually just underneath the ECU on most models i think, however i have a feeling i've read some of them are in the engien bay..

Take the unit out.. clean the contacts.. reainstall it.. see if the light then comes on.. if not tap the unit with a screwdriver or something.. dont break it but you can tap tap tap it fairly hard till the light comes on..

you Could, take the top off and clean the internal contacts, but its easiest and more reliable if you're unsure to buy a new one..

I only wish my fuelling problem was as simple as that. Looks in my case like my fuel pump is fried

its not as simple as that!!!!,it did it again to day all the lights on but the managment 1,and wont fire up(turnes over as normal),i tapped everything, took out every fuse i could find, looked at every wire from tip to toe,i was look ing at everything for a hour and the back of my legs were killing me so i thought f~ck it ill lock it up and get a lift home ,
so this is what happened:
i slamed the bonnet locked it up and left it for about 20 sec's,then i thought im stressed and need a fag so i opened the drivers door, got me fags lit 1 and thought ok ill try again so i turned the imoblizer off turned the key and the light came onand started first time????(now im confused).
does any know if anything is linked up to the drivers side lock that can stop the light coming on and starting??, thats all i can think it could be drivers side lock!!!!
any thoughts as im realy boggled with this 1 thanks jay

It's on its way out is all i suspect.

fuse? huh.. Its the relay that is the problem,

If you take the kick panel off in the drivers foot well by the door, just below the ECU there is a little clip fixed to the car, has a reasonable sized box which i think is the central locking ecu, and then a square approx 3cmx3cm x5cm relay this should be the fuel pump relay, however like i said earlier i have heard a couple of occasions where its under the bonnet somewhere, but i dont know what models/years have it where.
