Hi does anybody know why the paper clip test does not work on my 1998 ecotec 2 ltr jeff

No idea if/why it doesn't work on the Ecotec - I thought it did.

Works on my Ecotec. I do remember reading that it doesn’t work on some (or that some people had trouble at first)...not sure, long time ago, sorry!

some need the engine running ..others require just the ignition lights on.try both ways

if all above fails, your just not making the connection right, have corroded contacts or a dodgy loom.

Whats your actual problem? you don't allways need the codes, so if you cant get them for whatever reason.

Thanks for the help there was a bit of corrosion but made the connection the management light just goes out but not flashing any codes
