Any electrical issues

headlight switch

is there a way of removing the headlight (on/off) switch?
I've tried to get a couple from the breakers but seem to damage them.
Mines playing up and I need to change it, when on sidelights only the near side lights come on, and on dip the dashboard lights dont illuminate unless I whack the switch several times!

I'm only going from Haynes here, but........

Pull the switch out slightly and insert a small screwdriver or rod through the hole in the bottom of the switch knob to depress the knob retaining clip.

Pull the knob from the switch.

Press the 2 now exposed switch securing clips towards the centre spindle, then pull the switch from the facia and disconnect the plug.

It's a bit clearly with the pictures in front of you, but hope it helps a bit.

I've got one you can have for £5 delivered if you are struggling. You need to remove the section of dash that contains the switch first - unfortuunately that means taking the sterring wheel cowling and section below the speedo out. The slide a thin flat bladed screwdriver down each side of the switch (from the back where the electrical connections are) it then just pops out.

Oh right.

Haynes shows the clips being accessed from holes behind the actually knob.
No need to remove anything else.

thanks, I'm gonna have a wander again to the scrappy this afternoon so I'll have another go with them instructions. Would be far easier to replace the whole panel, but I cant find any l/h/d ones in the breakers!

think I'll get one ok thanks imcsherry, but if I get stuck I'll give you a shout.
(and I'll put a haynes manual on me shopping list!)

Its as described above I find a four inch nail is the ideal tool to put through the hole when the switch is pulled out. This then allows the knob to be removed and access from the oputside for the two retaining clips
